EEK – I have a Tufted-Ear Bird Dog
I have a Tufted-Ear Bird Dog living in my house. He just kind of appeared. I have done extensive research on this animal.
The Tufted-Ear Bird Dog is a strange animal. He is a mammal. He has fur, lots of fur. His habitat varies and he can be found in the cooler climates of the United Kingdom but flourishes in almost any environment. This particular Tufted-Ear Bird Dog has a predilection for my garden. He loves water and will find any body of water, either big or small, in which to splash around. Our Tufted-Ear Bird Dog is often referred to as “Wide Body”.
His diet consists primarily of dog food and dog snackies, but has he been known to eat a fried egg or two. He has relatively sloth-like movements the majority of time. The exceptions to this are 1) when a squirrel mistakenly enters (or maybe not so accidentally) his domain, or 2) when he is attached to a leash, at which point he transforms into a football linebacker with a really low center of gravity.
He sleeps for the most part on his futon (with his pillow and blankie), but will wedge his body up against the front door when his people are away. He is not known for barking much, but makes little puffy sounds that are reminiscent of the sound made by a wart hog.
By nature, he is not fierce, nor is he aggressive, but he has been known to 
participate in “Epic Death Battles” with Mikey, the Great Dane. He can be quite elusive, and so he is difficult to photograph (actually – he just follows me around).
The Tufted-Ear Bird Dog is an unusual beast , but he is my beast (or maybe I am his human, or perhaps a little of both).
Note: I think the frequent summer clippings may have contributed to the appearance of this animal, it gets so hot here – we had no choice. Besides, he is so cute when he comes back from the groomers, he looks like a pleasantly plump little boy who has just received his summer crew cut.

The boy liked his Easter basket and the girl didn’t seem displeased with hers (although she wasn’t falling for that “Toy phone/iPhone switcheroo”), so I’d say it went well.

Aw that sucks 🙁 Definitely not looking forward to those days when the kids start outgrowing certain traditions.
Yeah, it’s a little depressing. But I keep telling myself the trade-offs make it worthwhile – like, now they can go to the grocery store, instead of me!!!! Yippeee!!!!!!
You mean it isn’t appropriate to just dump LM off at Walmart with a grocery list while I go out and get my nails done? Whoops! 😉
It might be frowned upon, but getting your nails does does take top priority!
I lived near a dog that looked just like your tufted ear bird dog! I think it was a she and she was the sweetest. They had a yard full of puppies that drew everyone to the fence, but then this sweet dog would come up for the attention and give it back and pretty soon you forgot the puppies were even napping in the yard with her.
You are right, our Tufted-Ear Bird Dog is so, so sweet. His name is Maxie and he sits at your feet and hugs them (which makes it quite difficult to get up and do anything – unless you want to drag all 120 pounds of him along with you). I have never owned a Golden Retriever before, only Great Danes (who can be aloof and are kind of loners too), but Maxie is just so heart-breakingly devoted and attached (he even sits with me while I fold laundry – I spend a lot of time folding laundry). Your puppy dog is so fluffy! I’ve had my dog since my bad day thursday and the world is a much better place. She needs a trip to the groomer-why do they always have that stinky dog smell?? Lots of love to your Maxie ❤️

I checked out your about page and we have some things in common. I too, enjoy things of the supernatural. Have had some experiences of my own as well. Did I read correctly that you said you served in two branches of the armed services? Wow. Either way, thank you, thank you and thank you again. BTW, did I mention that I love dogs? Heh. Don’t ever show me a story (book,TV,or movie) that has to do with military or dogs. Those are my weak points. I cry from the first word to the last, because dogs and military are my heroes.
His name is Maxie and he is by far the sweetest dog I have ever had the honor of living with. When you sit down, he will come put his head on your feet and wrap his legs around your legs, hugging your feet. And then of course, I always feel bad when I have to get up and do something, because I have to move him. Thank-you for all your comments!!!!!!
