It’s raining,
It’s pouring,
The old man is snoring!!!!
November is almost upon us, and here in California, we have been waiting with bated breath to see if the El Nino will unleash its promised precipitation upon us. Most of us, at least all the people I know, have the Weather Channel app on their phones and frequently check to see predicted precipitation percentages daily. For the last week or so, the sky has been filling with the fluffy, wind-swept clouds that promise a change in weather. Yesterday, the skies filled with thick, foreboding clouds bringing the darkness of night earlier than usual. But yet, the Weather channel said zero, zero, zero for chance of precipitation, and zero all the way along the 10 day forecast.
Here’s the thing though, I have had the worst headache for about 5 days now. I get rain headaches. They are these aching, pulsating headaches that pummel away at my temples. My Mum says I get rain headaches because the sawdust inside my head becomes gets damp. I think it has something to do with the drop in the barometric pressure. Over the last few days, I have been quite puzzled by these headaches, as the Weather Channel rain forecast has not indicated any chance of rain. Well, it turns out, the Weather Channel is wrong and I am right.
I woke up this morning to the slapping of big drops of rain on the tile of the patio outside my window. My Great Dane, Mikey, refuses to come outside. He, unlike the rest of us, dreads the rainy season. Imagine a 150 pound Great Dane tip-toeing through the raindrops to pee. Whenever I see him doing his little dance I think of Tiny Tim and “Tip-toe Through the Tulips”.
Hopefully, this is the start of a beautiful rainy season for us, and I pray it doesn’t start, sputter and die out by December, like it did last year. Fingers crossed!!!!!!

Hope your headache soon clears up. How weird that you get them when rain is coming (that weather app sucks)!
They always go away once it starts raining.
That is good then as I know you were hoping for rain! 🙂
I was. I really, really was. Headaches all winter hopefully!!!!
It is a bit of a mixed blessing really I should imagine!
It is worth it if the trees and the plants get water and green up again. Ibuprofen will be my friend this winter (and I am okay with that). As long as it is raining – my head doesn’t hurt. It is just when the system is building up.
Good old Ibuprofen! 🙂
Better living through chemistry – that’s what my dear old Dad says!!!!!
Ha Ha! He hasa good point! 🙂
hope you get lotsa rain to fill your lakes back up
Thank-you!!! Me too!!!!
Finally! I know you guys have been parched. Here’s hoping enough comes to replenish all that needs replenishing.
P.S. I sometimes get those rain headaches too. Not all the time though, which is so inconsistent.
I never met anyone with rain headaches besides me.
Like I said, I don’t get them at every rain. It’s very intermittent, but they started in Florida, of course.
I hope you get a gentle rainy season headache free.Wow, what a memory Tiny Tim is.
xxx Massive Hugs xxx
I think I actually remember watching Tiny Tim on TV when I was a little kid – was it Sonny and Cher or the Smothers Brothers? Hope you are doing well!!!
Ooh Ouch! Just because I wasn’t that little. I think he was a guest on every show possible until everything hit the fan about the age of his bride. Then no more Tim.
I’m doing fine thank you as always
Hugs
Such a strange fellow – that Tiny Tim – kind of a creepy, weird guy!!!!!
I am glad you are well!!!!!!
Funnily enough, I can always detect heavy rain because of headaches too… that, and the fact my hair is wet. 🙂
Tee-hee!!!!
Eek, getting rain headaches would be totally miserable here in the pacific northwest!! Hope it clears up for you quickly!!
I know – went to school in Seattle, from November I was popping Motrin until the Spring. Good thing is the headaches always go away when it is raining – so it wasn’t awful!!!!
ah ok, still sounds bad!!
this post reminds me of an old episode of the Beverly hillbillies called Grannie versus the weather bureau. I tried to find a link for the episode but I couldn’t so maybe you’ll have better luck than I did.
I will see if I can find it. I used to love the Beverly Hillbillies!!!!!
